Most people who know me well understand that I’m not one for crowds or large events. I’m more of a low key, commune with nature type gal. But every now and then, a good soiree is exactly what the doctor ordered. The Ritz Carlton Sarasota’s Kentucky Derby Party last weekend was just such an event. The party was held in a spectacular setting on the bay at the hotel’s Jack Dusty eatery and lounge overlooking a glistening pool and swaying palms. There were so many things to love about this party; the life-sized ice sculpture of Labrot & Graham’s Woodford Reserve bourbon upon entering the event, the bourbon bar atop barrel casks on the patio, the 4-piece musical ensemble complete with violin and double bass, the flowing mint juleps… you get the picture. And then there were the HATS! All shapes and sizes, colors, and styles! It was a people-watching, overload of the senses extravaganza! I can hardly wait for next year!
