When I first arrived at Sandals Grenada I was greeted with a warm hand towel and a refreshing drink, then introduced to my private butler. It was a great start to a wonderful stay at this unique all-inclusive resort featuring “pools in the sky” and “living rooms in pools”.
A truly exotic paradise, the island of Grenada is located roughly 100 miles north of Venezuela in the West Indies. Known for its stunning natural beauty, deep blue seas, quiet beaches, and the intoxicating scent of spices and tropical flowers, Grenada is the perfect backdrop for romance… and Sandals Grenada delivers.
The 17-acre resort sits on a small, quiet stretch of beach on the southern tip of the island that is very secluded and private. The resort is a mere 5-minute drive from the Maurice Bishop International Airport. Other than the occasional plane passing overhead, I never heard any noise.
The vibe at Sandals Grenada is one of low-key, barefoot elegance. The staff are warm, engaging, and eager to please. If you opt for a butler suite you will be utterly pampered. Think flower-strewn baths, treats left in your suite, and anything else your heart desires.
Sandals Grenada is a 17-acre adults-only property catering to vacationing couples. Featuring 225 rooms in four villages (Pink Gin, South Seas, Lover’s Hideaway, and Italian Village), the resort also has 4 different accommodation classes (Love Nest, Butler Elite, Club Sandals, and Sandals Luxury).
Standard or Club Level rooms are located in the South Seas village and feature mahogany furnishings, flat-screen tv’s, free Wi-Fi access, and outdoor tranquility soaking tubs.
The ultra-luxurious love nests,, the Sky Pool Suites, are located in the resort’s Italian Village. Each suite features an expansive balcony with an infinity-edge plunge pool, a tranquility soaking tub, and magnificent ocean views. Butler elite and 24-hour room service are included.
I have stayed at several all-inclusive resorts over the years and the food at Sandals Grenada was far superior to any of them! The resort has a plethora of dining options, with 10 restaurants offering everything from steak to sushi. My favorite dinner spots were Cucina Romana for its authentic Italian cuisine and fine wines and Butch’s Chop House for delicious steaks, lobster, and desserts.
For lunch, I opted for Neptune’s due to its lovely beachfront setting and light seafood and salad options. Cafe de Paris was a great mid-afternoon spot for coffee and pastries. For a more intimate dining experience, I recommend a candlelight dinner under the stars with your own private butler. There is an additional charge for this service.
Whether on land or in the water, you can do as much or as little as you want at Sandals Grenada. Scuba diving is a very popular activity here, as numerous wrecks and the world’s first underwater sculpture gallery are just off the shores of Grenada.
Sailing is also a favorite past-time, given the light prevailing winds in this part of the Caribbean. Golf, tennis, a state-of-the-art fitness center, and the tranquil Red Lane Spa are also available at Sandals Grenada. Or you can simply lounge away the day sipping cocktails in one of the resort pools.
Sandals Grenada has 5 pools in total. The main pool has more of a party atmosphere with a swim-up bar, music, and activities. There is a smaller V-shaped pool facing the beach for guests seeking a quiet atmosphere. There are also two waterfall river pools resembling a lazy river, and another quiet pool lined by swim-up rooms.
Sandals Grenada is a great choice for honeymooners and couples looking for an exotic island destination coupled with the ease of an all-inclusive resort. Sandals Grenada offers stunning accommodations to fit a variety of budgets, excellent service, delicious cuisine, and a host of water and land-based activities.
